The BAFTAs were a super spreader event

Covid apparently cut a swath through the BAFTAs and a lot of the nominated directors and actors aren’t here at the PGAs tonight because of it https://t.co/HXcPyTdr4O

what a shocker, cases going up as we stop masking and have no restrictions.
hoping the 4th shot gets approved soon for all the immune-compromised out there

God, I had to take a 2.5hr bus trip into the city this morning and there was only one person other than myself wearing a mask.
Fella started coughing and I was screaming on the inside

they just lifted proof of vaccine requirements for LARGE INDOOR EVENTS here in California and I just... masks are one thing, but vaccine requirements?? I thought the whole reason masks - something that actually can affect one's enjoyment of an event! - were being tossed off is because you could assume everyone around you was vaccinated

it's like they want covid back so bad

Even being triple jabbed doesn't necessarily make much difference against catching Omicron and subsequent variants. It's quite vaccine evasive and also booster immunity can wane quickly. Most people I know have caught it in the last 3 months, and all were 3x vaccinated. Not that I'm anti-vaxx - it is still helpful in reducing the severity and length of infection in a lot of cases, although that may not be as strong an effect with BA2.

Personally, I'd rather an indoor venue had a) masking and b) lateral flow test requirements, because imo testing negative just before going out is a better indication of status than getting a vaccine several months ago. The UK is taking away free LTFs, which is infuriating.

I am still wearing my mask around because it is so weird to me that inside spaces had the mandate lifted but not public transit. If masks are still required on airplanes you know it is still spreading.

I guess we will just all see spikes again, depressing.

Same. I am not leaving my mask behind. Even if this is "over" there's no way I'm going into public transportation without one.

Mask mandates will be loosened a lot in my country soon, but you bet I'll still wear them in public. Absolute madness!

It's honestly infuriating that vax and mask mandates were dropped. Masking in particular is such an easy mitigation measure!

we dropped masks last monday iirc? (or was it the monday before... what is time) and it feels everyone around me is getting covid. coworkers, friends, family,... my mom tested positive on friday and she had a pretty bad fever the first day, but the day after she's luckily been fine though says she feels super tired and sluggish. so far i'm testing negative and i hope it either stays that way or i get it NOW because my girlfriend is visiting from the US in 11 days. so much stress honestly. but my mom and i mostly live in different parts of the house so i think i should be safe. though it sucks not being able to properly take care of her.

Sorry about your mom, I hope she's feeling ok. Am so fed up with people who meet others while sick. I finally caught Covid a month ago and didn't test positive on antigen for two days after having symptoms. If you aren't feeling well, stay at home!

It's honestly infuriating. I thought we had learned this lesson by now.
