SMG-25 years ago today I had the honor to introduce the world to my version of Buffy Anne Summers. It was an uphill battle. A mid season replacement, on a new network based on a movie, that was by no means a giant success. But then there was you. The fans. You believed in us. You made this happen. You are the ( Read more... )

This was the perfect teenage show for me. It started when I was in grade 6 and finished just before I graduated high school. It was middle school and high school for me and I grew up with these characters guiding me. Joss has tainted it quite a bit but I still have a deep love. TV isn't about one person. It's a collaborative art and and entire cast and crew came together to create something special.

Also, this marks 25 consecutive years of David Boreanaz having a lead role on a TV series. It's wild to me that he's basically never taken a break from Buffy season 1 to now.

I was just thinking the same.

Fucking hell, being a somewhat attractive man really is all you need to succeed

I don't think I can say this about any other 90's show, but I was a loyal fan from the airing of the very first episode! Until a few episodes into S4, when I quit watching bc I hated Riley and the Initiative plotline so much, lol. I wish I'd stuck with it, but several years later, I did go back and finish it properly, and have definitely watched it through at least twice more. This show (and SMG in particular) meant a lot to preteen/teenage me!!

I didn't mind Riley in s4 but he was insufferable in s5. It's weird that they never did anything with the Initiative afterwards, considering it was government program. It's almost as though the show realized they went too big and then scaled back so much in s6 that they've retconned the government's involvement.

Idk if it's the lighting or what, but the show's tone completely changed from s4 onwards. The standalone stories are still good but there's something missing; they never quite got back that warmth that the first 3 seasons had. I'm wondering if this is when the bts cast issues started.

I don't even know how many times I've watched the show all the way through at this point but this is making me wanna do another rewatch! I still remember the first episode I watched was the one where Glory kept transitioning back into Ben and I was hooked straight away.

I can't believe it's been 25 years since the premiere of #BuffyTheVampireSlayer! I'm so honored to be a part of this iconic show and grateful that people are still watching it all these years later. @hulu pic.twitter.com/uqkZIyfFXe

It's amazing that Jonathan has turned into such an important player in Hollywood. Any time Danny Strong turns up as the writer or producer of something, I feel weird pride. And I don't even like the character of Jonathan. Creepy rapist.

Danny Strong truely pops up in EVERYTHING. I mostly remembered him from Gilmore Girls (I came to Buffy later) but his resume is wild

I'm still so creeped out by that comment Joss Whedon made about her, like "I wanted to be her and I wanted to fuck her". Hate him.

That being said, Buffy was such a formative show for so many and Buffy herself is still a great character.

I can’t imagine how creeped out Sarah must have been from that comment.
