the VF article is the wildest celebrity profile I have read since rpattz/microwave spaghetti I'm DYING at some of the quotes:

I mean I think MPDG is a criticism of a trope where a female character is used to further the story of a man without getting any real feelings or motivations of her own. She's a plot device. A real life person cannot be a manic pixie dream girl because you know, she's a real person.

That article is very telling. Twice, she mentions that Elon has their son out and about in the world and being photographed and sees him as being a future "captain of industry," but there's a different standard for their daughter, Elon doesn't take her out and prop her in front of photographers, and they don't want her out in the world because the world is...meaner to women? Grimes also mentions it's Elon's job to "train the boy" and her job to "train the girl," which I really think just means that Elon has no use for a ~female descendent~ go figure.
