Gonna be interesting people change their tunes about this film once it hits steaming. All of a sudden it'll be a revelation.

Its actually a good remake. Truly hilarious seeing Ansel try soo hard and all he can do is that; he’s beyond mediocre and I find it hard to believe there was no one else they could’ve picked.

excited that I can finally rewatch those dance scenes. I genuinely one of the best movies of the year and I’m glad the pundits were wrong and Spielberg was able to get the directing nom for it. I’m not over just how he used the camera as like another dancer in the story, it moves that well. there are some shots that I went crazy for because it feels like no one directs musicals like that! and the numbers are shot in much more dynamic ways than the kind of stage-y settings of the original

he really knows how to shoot musical numbers!

I'm not sure why he kept saying he felt nervous shooting a musical for the first time when the whole opening sequence of Temple of Doom is a big, elaborate musical number. Seemed like he'd naturally hit the genre eventually

I think he was nervous because it was a full movie instead of just one number, but he’s also spoken about how it was his father’s favorite musical and he wanted to do right by him. his dad was still alive when they were filming it and saw scenes over FaceTime but died before the final cut was done
