Lily James says she reached out to Pamela Anderson prior to filming #PamAndTommy: “I was really hopeful that she would be involved. I wish it had been different. My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically.” (https://t.co/pp7KQSCjLB) pic.twitter.com/l70jkxNECm

“Yes. And I was very hopeful that we would be in touch right up until we started filming.” analievelyn January 13 2022, 10:03:12 UTC
What does this mean??

Did Pam renege or was lily being naive and overly optimistic?

Was Pam every officially involved?

Lily just hoped Pam would respond but then by the time they started working realize she wasn't going to.

Tbh I'll say something mean: this person is really stupid if they think Pamela or anyone would want to be a part of someone else telling their traumas while actively watching people irl roleplay them for a profit that she'd see little to zero of and never signed off on. I mean, really, really stupid. Pamela is being exploited for money like she has been her whole life and not sorry- one would have to be incredibly dense to hold hope out that she'd be like, "this is fine, let me help you traumatize me more for everyone to see so you can make bank off of it at my expense."

Sex tape aside, I hate how they're going to romanticize an abusive relationship full of DV (Tommy Lee spent 5 months in jail for pushing Pamela while she was holding one of their sons), drug use etc.

How could anyone possibly be so stupid to think Pamela would want to be involved in this?

I always thought this. They were romanticized during the time as well. I recall a cover of Rolling Stone featuring the two of them that was headlined "The Ballad of Pamela and Tommy": https://www.rollingstone.com/feature/the-ballad-of-pamela-anderson-tommy-lee-236133/

I'll watch it - but the fact that Pam doesn't want to be involved says a lot...

i mean idk. i find that most biopics that are backed by the real person tend to lionize them too much and make them out to be saints

Yes, IDK where the idea that the subject depicted in the biopic needs to be involved or give their blessing. I also support subject in biopic right to drag everyone involved

Well, if the subject is intellectually honest, then it ensures that what is shown is going to be accurate and faithful?

I support a biopic's right to drag everybody, too... but that only makes it entertaining, not true to what happened.
