An ONTDer made an image in which Alan Rickman said the same thing Snape did but about reading the HP books when he's old and everyone quote this as if it was something Alan really said and it's not. It was just some thing OP did for Tumblr.
That’s not a horrible incorrect statement when you consider there’s such divisiveness when it comes to books vs movies and this really is about the movies and celebrating that over the books.
I was going to watch this this morning but decided to save it for later. Idk, I love Harry Potter and it was a huge part of my childhood; I grew up with Harry. Whenever I’m especially sad, I reread the books for comfort. I named half my animals after it (Horse named Harry; dog named Potter; cat named Tonks), but as much as I love the books, the movies just never really did it for me. I rewatched them recently and even still, meh. I will eventually get around to watching it though
i wasn't going to watch but my 60 year old HP fan dad wanted to and seeing how much joy he got out of it made putting up with seeing JKR's face worth it. but it did make me remembet how terrible the movies were. just hearing David Yates talk made me wanna rage. him describing why he changed the Harry/Voldemort duel was particularly infuriating.
yeah she has definitely told that story before. i can even remember the smug way she told it, like it was the cleverest twist in the world rme. as if a dude being an incel obssessed with a woman isn't utterly predictable.
I'm not that well-versed in the Harry Potter-universe, but I remember thinking that there's no backstory tragic enough for me to justify a grown man abusing and harassing little children he also has serious power over for years on end (and he did it not just to Harry, but to all the non-Slytherins).
