I cannot understate how much I love the HP books, but the movies...meh. this trio doesn't really have a special place in my heart.

Also to anyone who loves HP but also struggles with finding a modern way to engage with the books/fandom, may i strongly recommend the podcast 'Witch, Please'!

It's Canadian, hosted by two self-described Lady Scholars who do a critical cultural analysis of the books. They have great, thoughtful guests on and tackle fascinating subjects through the lens of Harry Potter.

I truly cannot recommend it highly enough!

harry potter was such a HUGE part of my life in my childhood/adolescence/adulthood. but these last few years it's just lost all its magic (omg corny) to me, and yes jk being a fucking transphobe is the main reason why. i never thought i would just feel so numb to something i used to love so much.

tbf, HP is a contained brand, it is fairly easy to avoid without much research. Avoiding unilever or comcast or fucking disney, for instance, is a part-time job.
