i completely checked out for this st. vincent album cycle (not into the 70s vibe/sound, really not into her white collar crime daddy apologia). i guess i'm surprised it's still going.

I wasn't crazy about Masseduction and I really could not with Daddy's Home. Her whole attempt at connecting her dad's bullshit with the BLM movement and prison reform and then whining when she got pushback was fucking unbearable.

I'm not looking up exact quotes but the broad strokes were talking about prison reform now that her dad is out of jail and how her songs about him tie back to the BLM movement and pandemic, which they don't. They do not. He was a rich white man who got tossed in jail for embezzling millions. He got caught being a rich white idiot and the most she really talks about it affecting her life on the album is when she signs autographs for his cellmates.
