This episode made me so sad. It was nice seeing Nathan be sweet to Issa, but she just wasn't used to that level of care, which really reflects how much she went through it with Lawrence. Lawrence was not holding it down for her as a partner and this is definitely affecting how she's approaching being with Nathan. Lawrence's neglect taught her to ask for less. Yes, they wanted to take things slowly, but having him drive her around while her best friend is in the hospital waiting on news about her mother is not being a burden on a day where he has time on his hands. Sigh.

I also really felt for Molly. She was being kind of annoying and going into hyper-competent mode, but what else could she do after finding out her parents hadn't done the estate planning and that they had kept her mother's health history from her. Molly is too much, but then when we see the situations she's in (like at work) where she's not given grace and can't trust others to hold things down, it helps us understand why she acts like that.

The laugh I let out at "sorry for your upcoming loss" made my dog so concerned

But also I was getting so anxious while Flava Flav was lost. I get that Nathan had an experience with a lost dog that made him not worry too much about it, but it seemed odd to me that Issa was so chill about the possibility that she'd lost Molly's dog. Especially knowing what Molly was going through. Like during the scenes where they were "looking" for Flav they were walking SO SLOWLY.

I agree, it made sense for Nathan to not be that concerned, but Issa was way too relaxed about losing the dog

I just don’t believe Issas ready to move on with Nathan. There’s no way she’s over Lawrence yet, I don’t believe it, and I was pretty surprised when she said she loved him? I didn’t see that coming and it feels a little sudden, idk.

yeah to me the "i love you" sounded like something that just slipped out and was meant in a casual way. like the way you'd say "that's what i love about you" to a friend, but issa seemed to just go with it instead of walking it back.

I think this is my least favorite season? I don't even mind reading spoilers before I watch this season's episodes, and I used to really NOT like to be spoiled about this show. I feel like Issa is going to get back together with Lawrence and she'll be pregnant by the end of the season. There has to be a reason why we're still seeing Lawrence around this often, even with solo episodes, AND because he has been everywhere in the promo for this last season. That said, I can either see her pregnant with Lawrence, or choosing no one/deciding to be single and working on herself. I feel like all of this stuff with Nathan is a red herring and is going to go south quickly. They just aren't compatible and it seems like Nathan is a sort of placeholder for a relationship that she wants in her life, but she doesn't necessarily want it with Nathan, if that makes sense? I can't believe these posts get so little comments these days because I thought this show was much more popular in previous seasons!

Deff my least fave season, such a shame coming off the high of season 4

I simply don’t care about Nathan, every scene with him is a waste

I’m less and less excited to watch this show which is a shame because it’s one of my favorites.

I don’t like the Nathan plot. It feels rushed. Why is she saying ILY? I don’t think they are right for each other.

I liked Lawrence and his growth but then they gave him a random baby, broke them up with no discussion, and keep having him pop up. What are they trying to show us?

At this point the best ending is single Issa to me. But I also want more of her friends and less of her love life.

My two favorite scenes from the show are the end of season 3 when she unwraps her new couch and cleans her apartment up and just looks confident and ready for a new chapter in her life, and then the end of season 4 episode 8 when she walks home from her night with Lawrence again looking so confident and poised

I want a moment like that to end the show
Issa strong confident and alone
