I wonder if they'd ever do that: cast an American as Bond, just have him use a British accent. Like how Spider-Man has been played by British actors these last two times, only they do American accents. Still, eh I don't know if I can see it with Bond. ESPECIALLY Dwayne Johnson?!?! Nah.

I don't see them going with an older guy anymore, since Idris Elba is so much older now than when everyone initially wanted him to get the role. They'll probably start casting by next year so I could see someone in their late 30s now who'll be in their mid-30s by the time another movie comes out.

I seem to be thinking about this a lot lol. What do I know though, anything can happen!

I would love it (but don't think it'll happen) if they went with a young actor. We could get a Bond who is quite new to the game and see the beginnings of 'Bond', the growing pains and the struggles. Someone who has to find his strength and the 'Bond, James Bond' kind of confidence.
The Craig!Bond has been so much more meta about the Bond persona than those before him and I'd just love to see the others at MI5 acknowledge that this is a new James Bond and how they too have to get comfortable with that change.

In the past, both Adam West and Dick Van Dyke were offered the role of James Bond, but turned it down (Adam felt Bond should be played by a Brit, and Dick reminded them he can't do a good British accent). So I can see them offering it to another American actor, but I don't know if any American actors would actually take the part.

I could see John David Washington working, but I think I'm just saying that because of Tenet - similar kind of role. He's the right age, though.

I feel like I read about an interview where Idris Elba was like, "that's nice, no thanks," and had like a few reasons why, ie he felt too old, he wanted 007 (or James Bond?) to be a woman, etc. Did I hallucinate this???

They should put Bond back in the Cold War, there’s only so many outlandish crazy capers they can do without it seeming even more ridiculous than it is.
