I was underwhelmed, tbh, but I’m glad so many people liked it. I gave up on the original after season 4, so I don’t have the disappointment of the last season.
I think what threw me off was there was no voice over until the end, which now makes sense, because Jim doesn’t have an internal monologue, but Dexter does.
I never watched Dexter but for the past few weeks I’ve been watching Six Feet Under for the first time and I finished it tonight. The finale was so good, one of the few times the hype around it and talk about being some of the best TV was completely true.
he's just not a normal person. he doesn't attach to people and things the way that the average joe does. he cared for harrison as much as he could care for his sister deb. and he felt harrison would be better with anyone other than him.
see i didn't see any of that as love. i've rewatched the seasons like 5 times and it just plays off of all the serial killer troupes (on purpose). his brain and emotions are so out of whack. i think IF he could love, he would have loved those people, yes. definitely bad writing in the end like you said though. i never never thought about how he could have left harrison with the kids' grandparents lol literally forgot about them.
