Katey was walking a crosswalk after she was clipped by a Tesla this morning. The driver stopped to help her, and she was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. She's set to be released later today

when the story broke on twitter my hear sank for a second, i was expecting to read the worst but it was just a sensationalist headline lmao. glad it wasn't too serious.

i have friends in the biz~ and i hear nothing but great things about this woman, hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Was the Tesla on auto-drive? Who would be at fault for that - the company or the driver?

Both maybe? Tesla's under investigation with the NHTSA over that kind of thing related to all the crashes into parked emergency vehicles. They say that drivers are supposed to remain attentive, a bunch of other people say that it's promoted as autopilot and abuse is predictable. Tesla pushed an update a couple days ago to make them detect emergency vehicles better, so now they're also in trouble over whether that merits a recall.

Every carmaker with driver assist has been roped into this and has to report to NHTSA, too, so you know they're thrilled with Tesla lol

My friend's cousin died a few weeks ago due to an accident involving his Tesla. They are sending people to investigate. He and his friend died on impact and the car went up in flames.

Terrifying. It's always the most surreal thing to watch my Californian friends visit because they are scared shitless by how we actually yield to pedestrians up here. "What do you mean we can just go? Why are they all stopped?! This feels like a trap?!" Between traffic not being stressful and that you can drink our tap water, goodness I realized quickly why we're seen as a promise land for so many of them when they flee.
