And this will fail because the big three of every Olympics in the modern era, the U.S., Russia, and China, are wildly homophobic. Not to mention Brazil or Hungary. Daley is not wrong to want countries that legally murder LGBTQs to be banned. But it feels somewhat easy to do that because it's not really calling out homophobia. It feels...reductive.

Unfortunately, in every country there are homophobic people, countries that have homophobic laws should be banned, Brazil and the US should not.

i feel like this just punishes athletes who don't have a say in the human rights policies (or lack thereof) of the country they belong to. idk, it's tough. these countries should never be considered for hosting though

I’m sorry, but no. If you are going to ask that homophobic countries be banned (most of which are at least on paper - and the examples provided outside of Europe and populated by people who would not be considered white) please also ask that racist countries be banned. But WE know that won’t happen and we all know why. I get it, homophobia is a problem everywhere but to try and create a ban that would actually allow majority white “Western”nations to still compete because their homophobia is more subtle is too much white savior - white feminism for me. I have a better idea, cancel the 2022 Olympics!
