That's now a pet peeve of mine, since I follow actual cleaning Tiktoks that remove everything before they start cleaning the surface.

Especially since she put ICE, of all things, on top of her rice and just covered her dish with parchment paper??? That rice is unevenly lukewarm, unevenly hard, and grainy at best.

This is downright offensive to me as an Asian, lol.

Rice needs to be steamed. If she cooked her white rice well in the first place, she doesn't even need to add water; she just needs to make sure whatever container she's microwaving it in is completely covered with no gaps. You can use cling wrap or whatever microwavable pot/pan lid you have. Check it between intervals if you're not sure of the timing and give a good mix/toss before you seal it back up to microwave until it comes out steaming (. It helps if you add sauce or veggies on top of the rice beforehand but it's not necessary.

oh okay I thought this was a new discovery to steam rice in the microwave i didn't know about but it's not even effective? i get to keep my Asian card another day.

The ice and parchment paper was what stopped me in my tracks. I have never seen anyone stick these things on leftover rice and it just doesn’t make any sense to me at all. It sounded like white woman influencer nonsense so I felt vindicated when I pressed play just now
