For me the glamourizing is meant to be jarring. As in, look at the self important attitudes of these people. To me it accurately showcases the downfall of our political environment(began with reagan) that’s gotten even worse through the years.
Was mostly referring to the little "world building" bits in the background of episodes - like the magazines that were on the newsstands then (they pan to some of them in the first episode), the stores that people shopped at (the camera was careful about which stores at the mall it focused on), the diet coke and Slimfast diet culture (before the Atkins "revolution" and low carb fads began). It's also really interesting how this show is approaching Linda Tripp because it definitely does not match the media narrative around her at the time, but this is much more complex and layered.
I am so impressed by her performance in this. She is remarkable in ways I have never seen before, because this is so well written and the character is so layered and relatable.
i've (half) watched the 3 eps that have popped up online and I just am having a hard time caring about it at all. I grew up during this and idk I don't find it compelling. I like beenie/beanie
