Is this show any good? it's created by chuck lorre and on cbs so i'm doubtful but i kinda want to give it a chance?

Honestly it's pretty heartwarming, and tells cross cultural stories (Afghan refugees in America, US military who served there, integration/reintegration after war) that aren't really being told. There are 5 Afghan writers on staff, and 7 veterans, and it shows in the dialogue and the earnest in trying to be true to the characters and what each of them are going through.
