I have actually never seen this, I just know maybe 2-3 songs from it ("Never Enough", "This is Me" and "This is the Greatest Show" or whatever it's called) and I liked those three songs, but I've never felt compelled to sit and watch it
good to know I don't need to

I like some of the songs. I do not think it was an accurate depiction of his life or anything - it is not a biopic.

What are your favourite old Hollywood musicals?

Singing In The Rain, of course.

I’m also a sucker for a Doris Day musical - I love Calamity Jane and The Pajama Game, and I had a CD years ago that had both soundtracks on it so I used to drive my ex nuts playing it all the time.

I can’t really think of an old Hollywood musical I don’t like. I grew up watching them on weekend afternoons on TV with my Mum while she did the week’s ironing and I loved them all.

Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Westside Story.

Oops I meant to reply to the thread.

This movie was such a dud. The songs were so blah and unmemorable - I could not sing a bar of a single one of them now with a gun to my head. And considering how charismatic Hugh Jackman (hate him for his friend choices though) and Zac Efron usually are, it was a charm vacuum.

I only watched it because my friend who knows I love musicals went on and on about it and insisted I would love it even though I don’t like Hugh Jackman, and honestly, I’m never trusting a recommendation from that friend again.
