Although it has been over ten years since Katherine Heigl departure from Grey’s Anatomy, the star has just revealed the real reason she left the show.

"I started a family, and it changed everything. It changed my desire to work full-time. I went on family leave and just got to be a mother, and it changed my whole perspective."

Good for her. She’s talked about how hard it was to bond with her first daughter because she was working so much and that was the driving factor. Everyone who has worked with her post Grey’s has always spoken well of her so I’ve always been suspect about that narrative.

Grey’s seems like a toxic set, especially back then, so it wouldn’t surprise me things got exaggerated. And the fact that Shonda was still making digs about her a few years ago when Katherine has always been very diplomatic is nagl. But sure, cape for IW. 🙄

I'd like to preface this by saying I DO NOT agree with Shonda nor do I think she was right but I get why she supported Isaiah. She's a black woman who for sure has experienced how this industry treats black people so I wouldn't expect her to cape for a white woman, really. I think she was shitty but I'd be lying if I said I don't understand where she might've come from.

Yeah, it’s crazy how such a popular show could carry on for almost a decade being so toxic. It’s not surprising some fan favorites didn't last longer.
