I'm very excited for the Boris Karloff documentary.

Also, thank you OP for your hard work and keeping us updated. I love coming to your posts, because I can always count on some good recommendations from you and other people.

Can't remember the last film I watched, maybe Ernest et Celestine? Finished 10% this morning; I'm going to miss these unstable people.

Interested in Wife of a Spy because I really like Takahashi Issei but I also really hate Higashide, also in theaters. If I wanted to see it I would have seen it already.

i mentioned last week that i had some TIFF virtual screenings coming up and i spontaneously bought a couple more so i ended up watching a fair bit this week. kicking myself for missing out on belfast after its reception was so good but eh, i'll see it in a couple of months (and kenneth branagh does not need my money). so this past week i watched:

mothering sunday: i wanted to enjoy this more! that's not to say it was bad, because the cast was wonderful, it was visually stunning, and it did have moments where it all worked. it was nonlinear though and i felt like it got a little too scattered in parts, to the point that i was just trying to keep up with stuff like how people were related. good but not great imo, basically.

come from away: charmed me so much. i kept thinking how much i love musicals the whole time i watched. anything that rests on "nice canadians" makes me wary given how often that's used to paper over racism and colonialism in this country, but it was kind of a balm to see people just extending kindness to one ( ... )

i'm the same re the nice canadians trope but since this come from away is based on a real story it worked for me. i've seen the show live but it was so nice to get closeups of the actor's faces and pick up on all the things i missed from the balcony.

i also really hope it gets nominated for some emmys/golden globes, especially since dear evan hansen beat them in every category but one at the tony's (justice for jenn colella!).

Wait…Come From Away was made into a film that’s screening at TIFF? I completely missed that.
