I'm not going to excuse any of this, but I am so curious about the why? Like why do some celebrities still wear/use items from brands/designers/companies that appear to go against their values? Do they just not watch the news or something?

Personally I'd have to admit that I would likely not know about any of the bullshit that D&G did if I wasn't on ONTD and I have a normal regular person job. These celebrities are likely much much busier than me but D&G does roll around in their circles so are they really not aware (Which would still be ignorant) or do they just blatantly not care? Because there are some celebrities here that are outspoken for gay rights so it just confuses me.

Probably it's just not that deep and it's about money/sponsorships. To not say anything unless you are actively called out for it. Oh well.

D&G know how to create an impactful red carpet look and that's all some celebs & their stylists care about. Add the clothes being free or the celeb getting paid to wear them and all "morality" goes out the window.

I was thinking that much, but I still don't get it when it's a celebrity that is supposed to have an image that cares about everyone being equal etc.

And especially for men actually, why throw your carefully crafted dignity out of the window for a black suit that anyone could have made? I guess most people just don't care but I am bored at work so I have a lot of time to think lol.

I have very complicated and contradictory feelings about this. I am aware that it makes no sense but whatever.

I don't think they *have* to speak out and/or be activists, but if they choose to, I do not want to actively to shame them.

On the other hand, it does sting a little when your favorite artist is silent on a particular issue or says something incredibly ignorant or off putting. I recognize that it is unfair for me to judge but it is what it is.

Perhaps the solution is to stop valuing celebrities so much. But then how would I waste my valuable free time? Reading and educating myself? Perish the thought.

It's not even about them speaking out. Sometimes actions speak louder than words. And in the case of D&G, simply *not* wearing them doesn't seem like some impossible challenge.

My comments were more in regards to the ONTD note. Not D&G specifically.

"What should a star be now? Entertainer, Activist, Teacher, all of the above. Do you believe stars can grow. How many chances are to many? Is an apology ever enough? Does it just depend on the person or brand? Is anyone or anything not complicit? Should you only trust what you produce yourself? Have we gone to far in Idol worship? Can we ever go back?"

The thing is,if we really did take them less seriously, stopped giving a damn what they wore or ever how they think, none pf this would be an issue. Red carpets and award shows would go back to being industry events we'd all ignore and what the celebs wore would only be of interest to each other. There is actually zero reason to give a shit about someone's choice of dressmaker or tailor.

yeah there’s no way yalitza had any say or could change what she’s wearing, once a designer picked her that was probably the choice chosen

Her stylist is Sophie Lopez. There were many articles about how they worked together on her looks that awards season. Yalitza has a degree in education.She had many options that year. The job is to be seen in what the average person knows so they give you a second look among the many that can replace you. Some people believe in change. No fashion house is clean.I think this kind of benefit of doubt should be bestowed on everyone unless that person has a history.
