That's true, he is still friends with Bret and Jemaine. I wonder if he'll go the full teen movie story arc where the geek becomes popular, acts like a jerk, something happens where the popular crowd abandons him, and he returns to his roots humbled.

It won't let me edit but I've been following their uhhhh interactions over the last year or two and Jemaine has said a lot of things like that - He has QT'd other people saying Taika has never written an episode of What We Do In The Shadows, he had nothing to do with the show, he is getting all the credit and Jemaine is doing all the work. It very much seems like Taika is name only and the way Jemaine talks about him has been getting progressively less positive/civil/more shady.

Wow this post is revealing so much of how shady Taika has become. That would steam my clams too if I were Jemaine having to watch everyone celebrate the person in the group project who isn't doing any work.

Literally Shadows AND Wellington have reviews congratulating Taika non stop and Jemaine is out there directing and in the writers room, it makes me mad on his behalf!!! I haven't seen Taika do any press, like not that he's obligated to or anything but you'd think with Shadows nominated for Emmys he'd do a lil interview to puff it up. It's literally ALL Jemaine and Taika gets the credit while having orgies with his employees.

I don't wanna say "oh yeah there's bad blood there" but he definitely used to speak positively of Taika and does not now! Bret and Jemaine are very talented, I'm glad Bret is happy being low key with his family and Jemaine is doing hilarious and seemingly fulfilling work, and I hope Taika is happy with his decisions.

lol yeah he ghosted her when COVID hit and the country locked down, she was a UK citizen too so she got kicked out of the country bc she didn't have any more work in the USA

shortly after that he got involved with an instagram fitness model who at least has her own business and seems to be doing fine after he quickly moved on from her too. like damn dude.
