The world is bigger than what brief snapshots you see of a person, especially a celebrity.

I ran into someone from school that I had absolutely NO memory of, like, to the point that I couldn't even place their face, and they we very excited to see me, and seemingly knew so much about me and what I'd been update. I honestly felt terrible, although I think I was pretty convincing in acting like I remembered her.
Since then, I've asked quite a few ppl I'm still in contact with and they've put the pieces together for me, and I can now somewhat remember her, but like....I FORGOT about the existence of a whole ass person, that I saw almost every day of my adolescence. Not to mention, a person that had clearly kept tabs on me.

FWIW when I was in my senior year in high school, we took a photo of all the graduating students (between 80 and 90 people) and when they showed us the photo, I realized that I saw some faces for the very first time - I honestly assumed that some of the people on there were 1st years. And I know that we were split in 3 classes but my school was not that big and we would still go on trips all together yet I was totally oblivious to some of the faces.
But I also had one classmate with whom we went to the same elementary and high school, and after we graduated I realized it felt super weird to not see him anymore, after seeing him every day 10 months a year for 12 years.
