I think it had a cultural cachet even after the first and second seasons with recaps of the show being really popular, having crazy shippers, having filming candids in tabloids every week, and Blake Lively being a hot commodity well after the show fell off the ratings cliff

As a teen, I used to worship Season 1 Blair Waldorf's closet. Blair Waldorf wore headbands so I wore headbands! Blair Waldorf wore red tights so I wore red tights! Blair Waldorf wore capes so I wore capes!
I even bought a bunch of the Marc Jacobs outfits: the Thanksgiving dress, the mint green dress in Victor/Victrola, the mustard yellow dress she wears during the Non Judging Breakfast Club scene and the pink strappy dress she wears in Paris in Season 4. I also bought so many headbands. Obviously I'm too old to wear any of this now but I still pull out the more sophisticated sparkly Jennifer Behr ones for special occasions. Good times.
