I still remember my friends and I going to theaters to see it. We all were just nitpicking everything being big fans of the Ann Rice Vampore Novels, and at the end one of my girls stood up and yelled "THAT WAS SHIT!" XD
I'll keep my mind open! I can see it, visually. Although my favorite depiction of the vampires is the graphic novel "Claudia's Story," because it really captured the feeling that the vampires are like... extraordinarily, disturbingly pretty to look at.
I am curious, however, to see if the vague rumors about them updating the book's story are true or not. What I read--again, no idea if it's true--is that the concept is rumored to be Louis being like, "oh actually the first time I told Daniel this story, it was fake/wrong. THIS... is the real story." And in this vague rumor description, it said they change the dates and descriptions, so that instead of Louis being a slave-owning plantation owner, he's a brothel owner & doesn't turn until later than the original story, etc.
I don't understand or like any of the changes, tbh. Well, I'm okay with Louis being a black/mixed Creole but how is making him a brothel owner really that much better?? Everything else is baffling. Why move the timeline up so much? I don't want it set now! I want 18th and 19th century decadence, damn it! Ugh.
Also, I don't trust the white, middle aged men in charge to do it right. (It's 2021 and it better be gay af.) I hope I'm wrong, though!
I don't really understand the changes tbh. Especially the idea of "oh the first interview wasn't quite right" because then it's getting too meta IMO.I don't think being a brothel owner is all that better, considering the only reason to change that element is to avoid the controversy of him being an enslaver.

Edit: Here's the post I found with the rumors
