Whoa @ less than 25k separating Green Knight and Old. Is this the highest initial opening for an A24 film? I know my showing had a lot of people.

fyi, deadline says green knight is on a 20-day theatrical window, so those in the uk and those not comfortable going to a theater yet don't have too long of a wait to see it at home.

Good to know, I've seen it in theaters, in the middle of the day with literally only four employees in the building and just my mom and I and I want to see it again but it's picking up word-of-mouth steam and I don't want to chance it.

i have a feeling all these hbo max/disney+ premiere access actors are about to really go hard with lawsuits following the scarjo lawsuit. that is not a very high number for a disney movie. even combined/during the pandemic. like didnt kong vs godzilla do more than that?

It did $48M opening but HBO doesn’t charge more for their releases, so Disney won out but HBO max is more expensive so idek

I am just watching all of this roll out. I think studios will start paying actors upfront and leave the back end earnings to very few.

ok going to brave Covid (I'm vaccinated) and see The Green Knight. I feel this movie needs to be seen in the theater.

Very much so! I saw it in the theater and I don’t think I would liked it near as much at home. I masked up and had a snack in my car beforehand haha

does anyone know what the green knight cost to make? like since it's A24 I'm going to assume it was 8 figures but also like, it has period(-esque) costumes/props and vfx so I could see it being on the high end for them. (it used to be so easy to find budget info RIP pre-acquisition boxofficemojo ;-;)

either way, like ~50% above expectations, dev patel is a star & hollywood needs to learn it!

$30 million. deadline says it covered its production cost selling to international markets.

good for them! I feel like it's gonna have a very typical A24 "sharp box office cliff because the trailers kind of cover up how arthouse it is, but finds a devoted cult audience once it hits streaming" shelf life
