If nothing else, it needs some technicals and score nominations. Hell, even director. People can be very lazy with their metaphorical movies but I don't feel this was lazy at all. Maybe underwhelming at first, but when you get it, you get it. When that reviewer aid "This movie stays in your head (like mold, like rot)", they were right.
This film was wonderful, I think he really did justice to the poem even while moving off into his own vision. There was so much to see in each scene besides following the narrative, the costumes, the rooms, the landscape(s). And the casting for it was exceptional.
I havent seen it but Lowery has been on a few podcasts I listen to this week and he sounds like a nice, thoughtful guy who is really proud of this film.
Did anyone happen to catch [Spoiler (click to open)]after the giants sequence, i think an imaged flashed really quickly on screen and i couldn't catch what it was Also that whole sequence was so cool and kinda haunting
YES! [Spoiler (click to open)]I think that might be it bc i thought i saw like a mother holding a child but it went by so fast. I wonder about its significance
[Spoiler (click to open)]IIRC, that was the same image that was on a round wooden object that we saw earlier in the movie and I remember at one point someone broke it?? Someone else can tell me if I'm wrong loool
Yep; I go on forums where it's hinted there is a fairly different cut, but that's all speculation. Maybe if we enlist the help of DC fans, we can #ReleaseTheLoweryCut
Lowery said that he had to stop messing with it because with the delay he kept making edits. I think this is a situation where it's not studio intervention but an artist really trying to get the version he wants to see just right.
I read David Lowry said that before the pandemic, the first cut he was very unhappy with and he spent the extra time recutting it to a version he was happy with even though it's less accessible so this is the Lowry cut lol

I'm noticing shots in the trailer that weren't in the film and now wish we could also see the previous incarnation.
