The Green Knight is finally upon us! We're going tomorrow - tonight, we've got the original West Side Story on the big screen. I think I made the first post about it here, approximately 84 years ago, and I'm glad it's finally hitting theaters.

I wanna see Ride the Eagle for D'Arcy at some point, but I can probably wait for streaming. And I'll only watch Stillwater if it gets nominated for something, because the plot doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

We're almost at the end of my movie-a-day July!! Yesterday's film was Cleo From 5 to 7 (streaming on HBO Max). It's a French New Wave slice of life directed by Agnès Varda, and the only other film of hers I've seen is Faces Places, so I thought I should try one of her earlier works ( ... )

aw, I liked Cleo From 5 to 7. The moment she sings is one of my top musical moments in film. Interesting that your husband found it slow-- to me it was alternately low-key dealing with life and then intense.

I'm more or less fine with a lot of the French New Wave, but I couldn't get into Godard. I don't mind bare plots as long as I can vibe w something. It's only some of the arrogance/annoying maze gaze moments that irk me.

I've only seen a few of Varda's works but they are pretty solid

Can't wait for TGK! I haven't watched any of these other trailers yet but will. Some of the sound interesting.
