I don’t think they can do anything with Roger Rabbit unless they get Spielberg on board. That’s why the character disappeared from the parks and a planned land in one of their Florida theme parks never happened, and why the original sequel never happened

I didn't realize there wasn't a sequel and it's kinda crazy there isn't. That movie was HUGE when I was kid.

Yeah it was a massive success, and the company went all in on Roger merchandise. Spielberg was interested in a sequel that JJ Abrams would write, but they abandoned his outline quickly. Another writer was brought onboard and they came up with a sequel that would take place during WWII but Spielberg left the project bc he didn’t want to satirize N*zis (a good call) The script got reworked but it just never ended up happening (the first part of this YT video covers the abandoned sequel: https://youtu.be/Rp2YBU0MTtE)

it's not happening. supposedly the script was good but disney didn't want to make a "dark" family movie so this one is going to be more comedic. :(
