But why why why do some of these effects look gummy as fuck? Like Black Panther level rushed. Some of the angles that the CGI is in don't even match the angle they shot the actors at. I'm still shocked there were bad effects in Black Widow when they had so much time to refine them.

Usually there is some special fx cleaning between the trailer and the actual film release.

Totally! I would never judge effects by its first trailer but we also thought the same would happen with Black Panther. I mean that was a whole different situation, but Black Widow really makes me think we're seeing final effects here.

I've heard generally, the fx have decreased in quality, because studios keep outsourcing it to fx artists willing to do it on the cheap. And wasn't there a whole thing about protesting at the Oscars a few years back because the domestic fx artists weren't being paid enough/not being hired altogether?

this just doesn't look that good to me but i'm hoping it'll be better than the trailers suggest... what i'm getting is no visual flair, poor CGI, Tony Leung doing all the heavy lifting. please prove me wrong, movie.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I know trailers aren't necessarily indicative of the quality of a film, and I hope that's the case here, because all three of the trailers I've seen for this were meh.
