He wasn’t talking about the loss of big budget Hollywood movies.

Didn’t we literally see the business model changing as soon as the internet showed up? This would be like AT&T whining that nobody has a landline anymore. (Although I will admit that all the 90s nostalgia around has me missing cordless phones.)

I miss twirling the cord around my finger and the satisfying click of hanging up

we still have a landline because of relatives abroad who don't necessary use/own smartphones and because if i have to leave my phone contact for whatever not important reason/service, I can give that so i do not get bothered on my cellphone

He sounds mad that the industry evolved into something he can’t adapt to. Low budget terrible movies have always been made, but instead of them being dumped into theaters the same weekend as a blockbuster to be quickly forgotten about, they are finding an audience on Netflix or Hulu.

Yeah, he's acting like poverty row and block booking weren't a thing.

There have always been movies "outside of cinemas" so I honestly don't know what he's complaining about. Now, instead of waiting for them to air on TV/premiere on DVD at this or that hour, we can immediately complain about them on Netflix. And that's me mentioning bad movies.

Good movies or movies with enough redeeming qualities even though they're bad get a better following on streaming platforms. Just ask people about the Old Guard or even Bright before that.
