It's appalling that she's receiving harassment, but she's being extremely obtuse in acting like she she's the one being punched down on in this situation. She's the billionaire with the platform making a lot of bad faith arguments against an oppressed minority

i completely disagree with the threats she's receiving of violence, of any kind, but it's not appalling that she's receiving harassment imo. her transphobic rhetoric only fuels and validates behavior toward trans women that puts them in mortal danger every waking moment of their lives.

People who send threats are strange. I don’t want to deny they are real, it’s just hard to imagine people fighting for the rights of people going out and sending death and rape threats. I’m sure there are outliers who could be trolls using her transphobic views to justify their disgusting threat.

Because you said that, because you are trying to downplay what she got, as if women didn't get those kind of threats for the most harmless things, many people in the left are misogynistic assholes, many people "fighting for the rights " of other people are misogynistic assholes , people from all political spectrum are misogynistic assholes

there were actually a lot of stories last summer about how sales of her books actually stalled after her transphobic rants (https://www.forbes.com/sites/emmapocock/2020/07/19/us-harry-potter-book-sales-underperforming-according-to-recent-industry-figures/). i'm sure they're on the rise again, but i've seen them discounted at target for like the past six months at least

Hopefully, this will give her some empathy to what trans people face every day, on social media and outside of it, where her rhetoric is actively being used to hurt them, including Republican politicians using it as part of their justifications to strike down lgbtqia protections.

I doubt it. To be honest, I expect her to expand to more blatant homophobia in the next couple of years. She's already plenty lesbophobic, but I expect she's going to become more up front about the rest of the community.
