this is interesting to think about. because her songs are definitely underperforming, and people aren’t responding to her new vision as well as she probably hoped. it’s just that she showed up on the scene fully formed, there was no real awkward phase to her music. plus her music is so tied to her brother, and his solo stuff straight up sucks it’s making me think that they need to stop working together

I never thought her music was commercial so it was really surprising to me that she blew up, but isnt bad guy her only hit?

it’s not her only hit but it is her biggest. her album did big numbers, she won all those Grammys, and she did a big show at Coachella. her tour had only just started when Covid hit though but it was probably going to do really well.

Her music is not exactly commercial but I don’t think it’s inaccessible either. Plus her team did everything they could to make people accept the songs and her as a commercial artist. Performing at the Oscars, doing a Bond theme, licensing her songs for tv and movies

This is childish, which is not surprising given her age, but someone in her camp should tell her to keep this shit in the group chat or else there will be endless media cycles about 'backlash against Billie Eilish' based on her asinine social media posts.

If I was in my flop era and still making a fuckton of money I wouldn't be complaining about people complaining that I'm in my flop era

She just renovated a bungalow in the mid-west and made a pretty respectable return so…it seems so. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I don't think it's spellcheck. It's fucking autocorrect. I will send work emails and read them over a dozen times only to spot that one word has changed to something completely different. Who invented this shit?

It's really important to learn that acknowledging the haters is the worst thing you can do.

Try to avoid looking at negative things in general but never, ever acknowledge that you even know your enemies and haters exist. Channel The Dude and say "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man" and move on if you see negative shit about yourself.

When asked whether you saw/heard what someone said about you behind your back/online, you never saw it, you don't care, and you hope that badmouthing you brought them some happiness, because they clearly need it.

I think the problem is shes tied too much of her own identity into her music which is understandable considering her age and lack of boundaries in media, and instead of viewing eras as the manufactured image and art directions they are, taking the critique and using it to do something different going forward, shes just taking it as a personal rejection. Which it isn't, these people dont know her, they're just sick of beige.

That's extra why she needs to not engage with the haters. It only the person for whom it is personal, while the trolls move on.

You'd think new artists that grew up on the web would know the first rule we all learned early on: don't feed the trolls.
