A more spoilery review:[Spoiler (click to open)]
I was initially a little thrown by the title sequence; the slow cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was disconcerting, and I wasn't sure what was going on re: the girls bc I don't read the comics. But by the end of it, I could see why they went that direction - they got to show a quick summary of their lives as young women without an actual montage sequence.
I appreciated that a lot of the film dealt with the physical and emotional pain that women endure - family separation, bruises and broken legs from fighting, loss of agency and reproductive control - while still being a CBM with a lot of good fight sequences and humorous interjections from Yelena and Alexei. The script was a little weak, but that didn't ruin the movie for me - I find that to be the case with most Marvel movies. I don't have any strong feelings about Taskmaster because I didn't read the comics, but I know people are pressed. Considering seeing it again, tbh!

a lot of people have been upset about how they treated taskmaster but i wasn’t bothered by it at all. it’s not like taskmaster is this hugely popular villain in the comics so i’m ok with the mcu doing their own thing. also the movie needed to focus on nat and her family dynamic. if they would have given taskmaster more, it would have taken away from nat’s story imo
but it does play into what is arguably the MCU’s greatest weakness: the lack of strong villains. so i get the gripe.

ppl crying all over my theatre
as for the movie? i'm. ok. i did love it. but i'm a comics fan and there was no resemblance to canon whatsoever and i'm just. eh.
but it was cute and fun and charming a lot of the time, as long as i didn't think about WHAT THE FUCK THEY DID TO NAT
that end credit scene, though. hmm.
