"As The Guardian clickbait-titled their 2018 article: “Robyn transformed pop music”, and they aren't wrong. Everyone from Britney Spears to Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Teagan and Sara, and Ariana Grande have taken bits and pieces from Robyn's sound, persona and work-ethic. All this plus, Robyn's “Dancing on My Own” is one of the most perfect pop ( Read more... )

I still feel like she doesn’t get enough credit for transforming the pop genre but weirdly enough, that’s part of what makes her appealing to me. And to quote a commenter here, she makes grown women pop music that soothes my soul.

Robyn has such a perfect collection of albums.

Robyn, Body Talk, Do It Again, Love is Free, Honey…incredible across the board.

Her earlier work was of course great but didn’t capture me the same way her 2007 and forward music does.

Do It Again was such a phenomenal collab with Röyksopp, omg. I really hope they release another project like that.

God I love her so much! She is incredible live. I saw her on her Body Talk tour, and it's the only show I've ever been to where the whole venue was pumped at level 11, singing and dancing our hearts out. I remember locking eyes with complete strangers with our mouths in sync and feeling an undeniable connection.

That video is really interesting, especially the part about her being the Britney prototype. It makes so much sense because Robyn's voice is a bit strange and unique naturally, and Britney was forced to sing in what is now her signature unnatural voice.

Also is that Willow in your icon? I'm really into Willow's alt music path lately and hope she continues.

It was very obvious that Jive wanted her to be their next big star to launch in that bubblegum pop era of white boybands and girl groups, but Robyn wisely dropped out and went her own way. Jive picked Britney instead and sent her to Stockholm to record music at Cheiron, the rest is history.

It's amazing that Robyn went her own way and defined pop through her own artistry. Her self-titled is still good, but Honey is her best so far.
