"As The Guardian clickbait-titled their 2018 article: “Robyn transformed pop music”, and they aren't wrong. Everyone from Britney Spears to Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Teagan and Sara, and Ariana Grande have taken bits and pieces from Robyn's sound, persona and work-ethic. All this plus, Robyn's “Dancing on My Own” is one of the most perfect pop ( Read more... )

I've always loved pop music and Robyn's been a pop icon since the 90s. She really set the standard with her sound (the Robyn and Body Talk eras esp.) Honey wasn't what I expected, but I fell in love with it almost instantly. I'm curious to know what she'll do next. I just hope we don't have to wait 84years.gif for her next project.

i was so nervous about honey after so long of a wait after body talk, but it is truly utter perfection. definitely my favorite album of 2018, hands down.

I've mentioned this before but when I got the Spice Girl's first cd there was a thing to send away to be in their fan club so I did and all I ever got was a sticker of Robyn in the mail (which I put on my boombox lol). I loved Show Me Love and Do You Know (What It Takes).

I loved both of those, too.

I remember this comment from earlier Robyn posts and I think of it whenever the topic of Robyn as a teen pop star comes up! I'm sure there was another ontd-er who was in a Robyn fanclub in the 90s...

she was the prototype that made Britney and every other big pop girl of the 2000s, even possible.

I didn't know this, but it makes sense because for the longest time I thought "Show Me Love" was a Mandy Moore song.

her first album came out in 1995 so she truly was ahead of her time. Bubblegum pop started taking over in 1997/1998

IIRC the career trajectory that Britney had was originally planned for Robyn, but she basically went "No thanks, byeeee"

the fact that the calum scott’s version of Dancing On My Own has 445 million views on youtube vs Robyn’s version only having 64 million will always be one of life’s greatest mysteries/tragedies
