I saw Michael James Scott live as Genie in Australia and he was amazing, so glad he's getting his flowers now.

A whole lot of gay going on and yet the gayest part were those high-waisted white pants and flowy blouse.

Kinda off topic but I just watched Luca the other day and I have no idea how it is not meant to be an allegory about coming out…. It’s so blatant lol

I feel like any argument the director might make about how that wasn't intentional falls apart as soon as [Spoiler (click to open)]the old ladies at the end reveal themselves. That's got nothing to do with platonic friendship and boys being boys.

I think the director thought he had to say that to keep both sides happy. The ridiculously easy outraged think-of-the-children anti-gay crowd and potentially the crowd that would accuse him of queerbaiting without an “actual” follow-through. But definitely more so for the first group,

I guess? It goes back to the notion that if Pixar (and, by extension, Disney) just bit the bullet and did stuff like Out on a regular basis, there wouldn't be this kind of "controversy" over what's ultimately a really sweet and heartwarming (and very gay) movie
