Yeah, I agree. Even if it means the abuse manifests in other ways. When I was 12, my dad violently beat the shit out of me, like my face looked like Rihanna’s in that leaked picture. I couldn’t go to school and when my dad dropped me home after that weekend, my mom dragged my ass to the precinct and immediately pressed charges against him. I didn’t speak to him for 6 years, when my mom passed away, and we’ve had an on and off relationship since then. He “changed” in the sense that he never physically abused me again, but he was mentally, emotionally, and verbally abusive for the duration of our relationship. I’m glad to say it has been almost two years without contact with him. Less glad to say he has turned and found other people, like my sister and my aunt, to fill the abusive void I left behind.

Men like that don’t want to change, which is why they never will.

Men often continue their abuse through life and it can cycle between how they abuse others. Sometimes people say they have changed because they don't hit others anymore, but they're still abusive in other ways!
