Method acting will now forever make me think of that story where some actor - might've been Charlie Hunnam, I don't remember?- ghosted his long time partner for something insane like 6 months because they were shooting a movie about someone in a very remote place. Because apparently that means you not only have to pretend phones don't exist but not even *warn* your SO that's what you'll be doing.

i guess it was messy, but not really? i dumped by my first bf over email. there was some outlining trauma going on that led to my decision to ending the relationship and had so much to say that i knew putting it words would help me in getting it all out. we also talked about it on the phone for a long time after he read it (i was going to college hours away), like i didn't just send it and ghost and we're still friends now, so i honestly don't think it was that messy tbh.

I don't think any private form of communication makes is messy by itself. Also depends on how couples communicate normally... not everyone hangs out physically all the time, and not everyone likes to talk on the phone. imo what makes it a mess, is pretending all is fine only to drop the breakup bomb and then avoid any conversation about it and/or run off with a new partner. The way you handled it seems perfectly fine to me!

You're welcome, bb! Somehow ppl who categorically judge text breakups always assume the worst case ghosting *shrug*.
I had an ex who I hadn't seen in a while (for work reasons), but we were calling & texting each other normally. He was supposed to come stay with me for a week, so I took time off and made all these plans and reservations for us. On his journey, he's constantly calling me all excited & lovey-dovey, then shows up at my flat with a messenger bag only. I'm a bit confused why he wouldn't bring more clothes, but okay. All's fine, physically too, but a few hours later, he casually asks if I'm happy with our relationship... only to tell me he isn't and just leaves forever. I sooo wish he'd have saved me the time & humiliation and just e-mailed me!!
