i was playing through the series for the first time when pre-production for this was ramping up and i cannot believe how stacked the cast for a borderlands movie is?

like i understand it's a well-enough known IP but Mortal Kombat is way more of a name than BL and yet that movie is filled with nobodies of varying acting ability meanwhile they got a two time oscar winner for the lead of this one not to mention JLC and others

also Cheyenne Jackson is playing the gay arms dealer character and his (future?) husband is also hot so i'm into that

Cate and Jack at least were the stars of Roth’s last film so maybe they just liked working with him.

Cate's also always been a way more commercial actor than her reputation sometimes signals.

Borderlands is one of my favourite game franchises and I just... do not care about this at all. I feel like everyone's at least a little bit miscast, among other things? I'd LOVE to see some weird animated Borderlands movie, in a similar line-art style to the games, the aesthetic is such an inseparable part of the franchise to me. Wild stuff in the same universe but original story, there's already been prequels and side stories, there's a lot of interesting tales to tell rather than (presumably) the fairly weak plot of the first game.

And where is Brick and Mordecai??? Bringing in fan favourites from other games and not even filling out the playable character roster?

The casting for this is a bit of a choice outside of Tiny Tina but when I read Gina Gershon is Moxxi everything felt right.
