Mike Posner Climbs to the Summit of Mount Everest

This morning at 4:35 am, Dawa Chirring Sherpa, Jon Kedrowski, Dawa Dorje Sherpa and Mike Posner summited Mt Everest. That’s what I call a sunrise.

We are now back at camp 2 but not out of the woods until we descend to base camp tomorrow am. Please keep us in your prayers 🙏🏻☺️

Hmm after all those posts of users mentioning people's dead bodies being left up there....I wouldn't be gung ho about climbing it 😬

That’s how I found out about that man too! So many people have died climbing that mountain. I wish it wasn’t a thing. :(

i have so much whiplash from this post. first, i was gonna complain about the everest climbing industry. then, i was like oh i guess it's nice he did it for charity. then, i looked at the amount, saw it barely covers an expedition in the first place and was like bitch couldn't just donate money and cut out the middle step??

AND ALSO random venting but... you know what i hate almost as much as the everest climbing industry? reddit dudebros who gleefully watch each climbing season just to tally up deaths. like you're not actually? helping?? anything???

and they're always the type of person who knows precisely one (1) fact about mountaineering and that's that "well, actually, k2 is much harder than everest..."

Sidenote: google says it costs $35-45k to climb the mountain? Is he taking a large group of people with him?

you'd be surprised the people who have successfully summited everest. if you've got the money, sherpa will basically carry you up. i imagine that's what happened here. it's why everest isn't really considered a huge accomplishment in the mountaineering world anymore.

Everest isn’t a very technical climb tbh. It’s more just grueling and the weather at that altitude is very very finicky. It can change in a matter of hours and kill a lot of people.

Most people die on Everest during the descent due to exhaustion, health problems, and other non-mountain based reasons!
