also meh at him. i love how everyone is noting Whiplash as THE movie they loved him in. like, yeah i liked him in that too, but that was how long ago? he's done a dozen of movies since then and has he actually pulled a decent performance in any of them? i honestly can't say cuz haven't seen them minus the dumpster fire that was F4, but one good performance does not correlate to good actor.

Right lol I liked Whiplash too! but it's basically "Why reward someone with such a smug attitude" but I guess most people in HW are like that.

I wouldn't really call myself a fan, and I've only seen him in three films (The Spectacular Now, Rabbit Hole, and Whiplash), but he was excellent in all three of those. The roles didn't seem similar to me either. That's usually enough for me to consider someone talented. The rest is just poor career handling.
