this is one of the fastest comic book to adaption i've ever seen. her first appearance was in 2019.

right?! i don't follow comics all that much anymore, but is she that popular in the dc comic book circles to warrant such a quick turnaround for a live action adaptation?

Ava DuVernay makes it sound promising. But an Arrow writer and producer and being on The CW just doesn't bode well.

The Arrowverse has spectacularly bad writing and production values and, more depressingly, the higher-ups really hate Black women so I'm pre-emptively nervous for this girl, who is only 16. PROTECT HER

Brian Michael Bendis makes me feel some kind of way but I can't put my finger on it in the right way to articulate exactly why.

I read like the first 4 issues of Naomi and then fell so far behind that I didn't bother to catch up but I remember the initial hype behind the Naomi comics was that she will somehow shake up the entire DC Universe? Did that ever happen? I wouldn't even know because I barely, if ever, read DC comics (and when I do, they're usually short-lived underdog titles. RIP Sideways and Super Sons).

Not really. She's made appearances in other titles and is part of the Justice League title but she's relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

Disappointing but not the least bit surprising. And I don't mean that as being a social injustice but that DC/Marvel rarely ever delivers on promises relating to a character or event that will forever change the universe. I take hype like that with a grain of salt.

i hope this does well and is good but like i already worry if Ms. Marvel has enough material for a series and she's been around for close to a decade at this point, Naomi hasn't even been two years

People nowadays who adapt DC properties much rather not be bound by comics anyway so its perfect.
