Maude really went there and so many tv shows today won't. I hate when shows will bring it up but then never have characters actually have an abortion.

I appreciated that Crazy Ex Girlfriend had a character go through with an abortion; especially one who was married and already had children.

When Coco had the abortion on Dear White People I was cheering that they went through with it and didn't shy away. And also show how this was the right decision for her and that there was no reason for her to be ashamed.

I really got to get in to Golden Girls!

I was like 11 and under when that “very special”episodes Of Family Matters aired and the one with Laura running for student council or something. crushed me- they were, I think, my first introduction to rave talk.
That and the episode where Will gets Locked up and uncle phil is not having it.
I grew up Near Queens so - I always saw all types of people - so I never fully understood those episodes so much- I didn’t understand why people would act like that- but they stuck with me tho

Family matters (and full house) were my fave TGIF shoes!

It remains so wholesome and I can still watch it aside from now as an adult I see that Steve got a pass for harassing Laura bc he was a geek and had tape on his glasses and was ‘harmelsss’. UM NO! Laura and lisa Turtle disserved better.

I'm listening to "Zack to the Future" in which Mark-Paul Gosselaar rewatches Saved by the Bell for the first time and then does a podcast (with the Zack Morris is Trash guy) and he's commented several times on some screwed up things Zack did. Like when Zack sold Lisa's kisses without her permission to pay for her credit card bill.

I had no idea Lucy was the first pregnant woman on primetime TV. I always remember that ep because I thought the way she surprised Ricky with the news was so sweet and special.

I think they were the first married tv couple with one bed too?

I haven't seen an episode in years but I think they were a 2 bed couple.

This happened a lot sooner than most of us think - after years of seeing Rob and Laura Petrie retire to their respective single beds at the end of the night during the "˜60s it seems like we didn't actually see a real-life couple hit the hay together until several years later on The Munsters and Bewitched. However, the first couple to share a bed happened nearly 20 years before on the early sitcom Mary Kay and Johnny. In 1947, the married title couple hopped into the same bed in their New York apartment. Why the networks shied away from such normal married behavior for the next 20 years is a mystery to most of us - as far as we know, there was no public outcry against Mary Kay and Johnny for sharing the sheets... especially since the pair were married in real-life.

Despite being married in real life, Lucy and Ricky (Desi) had separate beds in the show. Mary Kay and Johnny was the first show to depict a husband and wife sharing the same bed. ETA: It was also the first TV series to show a pregnant woman.

It's really hard to tackle heavy shit on a sitcom and I think Family Matters did ok considering, but Fresh Prince did such a good job with their police stop episode, and it looks like it predates the Family Matters one by about 4 years too.

In the beginning of the pandemic I saw an article with darius McCray? (Eddie) and he said he made the episode about that happening to him. And he allowed the writers to use it.

I'm glad they did an episode about it, because you almost don't expect it from a spinoff of Perfect Strangers lol

I know I watched perfect strangers ( not sure why- it was about two old men in their 40’s? And I was girl under10 😆. Like what did we even have in common. But I don’t even really remember what they did episodes about. Him having a “funny accent” and doing weird things bc he’s not American? That’s what I’m imagining.
