It wasn't cute when the Olympics did it, and nothing changed.

City Council member Kevin De Leon, who represents District 14, issued the following statement:

"While the 93rd Academy Awards are being held at Union Station this year, and despite irresponsible rumors, NO unhoused residents are being forced to relocate. Since being sworn in, my office has been painstakingly working to house those experiencing homelessness throughout my district and we were able to offer housing options to unhoused residents in the vicinity of Union Station."

This is just a fucking lie.

The post or his statement?

Not sure if he is a good guy or a typical politician.

The highlighted part about them not forcing anyone to move. If you give someone no choice but to leave and tell them you're going to destroy their stuff if they don't, that's forcing them to move.

He once refused to vote for a bill that would protect people who came forward with sexual harassment claims about members of the CA legislature... and then it turned out that his roommate/friend/fellow state senator was a serial harasser. Which I'm sure was a coincidence.

And this was the guy who the CA democrat party wanted to replace Feinstein in 2018.

Love that they were patting themselves on the back for giving Nomadland awards while doing this.
