Ava DuVernay's 'Queen Sugar' features touching tribute to Chadwick Boseman

To show the BLACK PANTHER doll on “Queen Sugar” last night took the strength of two friendships. That of our network founder and the head of the studio that made the film. And my own with the film’s director. Thanks to all who touched this scene. “That’s a good place for a king.” pic.twitter.com/3XzD8LmYMk

I know it sounds totally cheesy. But I connected to Black Panther more than any movie in over two decades. It may have been another marvel film to some...but to me it was the first time I’ve ever seen an entire cast of dark skinned black people..people that looked like me, that were ultra intelligent, had one up on everyone, were gorgeous, and bad ass EVER portrayed on screen. It meant so much to me thinking of kids who can actually have representation FINALLY.

It’s not at all cheesy. It was such a powerful film even if it was a comic book movie from its subject matter to it’s refreshing representation of darker skinned black people.

Thank you! It was just so refreshing to see some dark skinned black people represented as something non-traumatic, not being a victim and owning everyone. Love it.

not cheesy whatsoever ❤️❤️❤️ it was really amazing to see this society untouched by colonization and the innovation and power it held. even killmonger's conflict was thoughtful. that movie really transcended its genre, it's very special

I’m choked up. I love that no one let their ego get in the way so this could happen.

I don’t think I’ve remained this affected by a celeb death for a long time. It will never not be a tragedy. Truly a light snuffed out before its time.

I still remember what I was doing when my brother came upstairs to tell me and my sister in law about his death. My reaction was "what? What the fuck?"

That was a nice tribute! I need to find a way to watch the current season of this show

This season has been so shall I say ... difficult + sad to watch? Not sure if I'm ready for this episode.
