It's very common. Some cultures have a tradition of naming a child after a deceased relative for luck or to show respect, while in other cultures, it is a taboo. It even has a name. Necronym.

I read that children can ended up fantasizing about being a reicarnation of the deceased person, or subconsciously seeing themselves as a continuation/attached to the dead person.
