You mean acting like there's not a deadly disease out there means you're going to catch the deadly disease when you stop taking preventative measures in order to not get the deadly disease you just got??????? what went wrong here!!!!!

My favorite bit about this is that there was all this feigned shock that this could be happening when the Canucks were following ALL the Covid protocols. And like... clearly they fucking weren't.

Idk if it's offtopic but I tested positive. After a year of frontline and being ultra careful....I finally got it and it's from my brother. Who was not well but my evil sis in law didn't want her precious Easter holidays ruined so dragged him around and now he's given it to me and my mum and dad. And I'm fuming.

People suck.

Covid sucks. Vaccinate people. And stay safe. Literally once my 10 days are up I'm back at work as it's my holidays right now. Fucking capitalism.

Why the fuck are NHL carrying on...

why is the wife of the first positive player getting hate? was she travelling/not following protocols? on one hand, i get getting roasted for that, but also i can't help, but think there are some prob overzealous fans being rude just because their fave team is out of commission.

nope hockey wives usually stay home so i'm just gonna blame this on misogyny since a lot of hockey fans are full of it :(

She did a podcast weeks ago where she said going grocery shopping is the only opportunity she gets to “somewhat” interact/see other people. Then her husband was recently the first positive case and people dug the sound clip up.

The league had sent a memo asking all members of the players household to refrain from going outside and use delivery services as much as possible...even though the players weekly interact with 50+ people in different states/provinces and then play a game in an enclosed space with others who were just travelling. But sure, it’s there SOs who are of concern.

They say they haven't been doing anything risky this spring, but also said it's "ironic" since they weren't abiding by protocols last summer (they got married; he kicked her in the face while doing a "Pony" striptease.) They went hiking with a teammate, though, so they obviously they weren't shut-ins.

I think it's totally possible that they got it despite not doing really high-risk stuff (I think that's how the Nats outbreak played out, since it's been strongly hinted the 1st positive test was in a cancer survivor who just had thyroid surgery) especially if it's the p.1 variant, but I won't fault anyone for not giving them the benefit of the doubt. (But threats and only blaming the wife are out of line.)

The fact that they held practice before receiving the initial person's results is mindboggling. Like bros what the fuck. I'm glad the rest of the North division has been mostly unaffected by COVID.

Also the Canucks have a pretty low chance of making it to the playoffs so like tbh just call your season and let everyone recover and try again next year.

Can the Sabres call their season too? As a fan I can barely even watch anymore.

why was the player allowed to be at practice anyway?? that's just a stupid move on their part. all players should be benched while waiting on test results jfc

hopefully none of them or their family members get super sick.

They usually are not allowed to be in contact with the team when they're in COVID protocol, so I have no idea wtf team management was thinking allowing him to be there while waiting for results.

I would imagine it's because "Covid protocols" aren't actually being followed at all and just didn't expect it to backfire this badly.

They seem to be following them on most of the other teams, so I wonder why the Canucks decided to say fuck it in this instance. Especially with how our case numbers are increasing again to the worst they've been since the start of all of this.
