I just put it on so I’m not judging something I just didn’t listen to but I’m kinda surprised it’s rated higher than Dancing With The Devil? I just think that’s such a great album and Demi is such a better singer lol. This isn’t even meant as shade at Selena, just genuine surprise. I don’t know shit about how music reviews work tho.

I just kinda feel like you can't compare. IMO they are the newer generation Britney vs Christina. Selena is definitely more style over substance with limited vocal ability but great producers. Demi has a great voice but is very hit or miss sonically. Selena sticks with her guns in a way that Britney always does. Demi is all over the place just like Christina but she's more willing to take risks.

tldr, they don't compare other than being disney girls at the same time lol

I agree with this for the most part, but I have to add that Demi also has had (and frankly still does) shit people working for her who simply just do NOT have her as a priority. That makes a big difference in how she's perceived and that does affect reviews, perception, etc.

(I say this as someone who owns every Selena album too.)

We play this song at work called miss you by an artist called Gabrielle Aplin ...but she sounds SO much like Selena I thought it was her song for a really long time. Me and my coworkers are convinced that she’s one of Selena’s ghost singers lol

I did a little digging on her and that seems unlikely. Gabrielle lives in England and there is nothing out there about her being a songwriter or producer for other artists.

I think Selena's favorite backsinger is still Ingrid Michaelson.

It was a cute EP. Selfish Love remains that song. As I've said before, she's given solid albums and rare was great but she dipped after that AMA flop. She gives diary electro pop. Nothing groundbreaking but it's perfect serviceable. It Aint Me remains her best song though.
