Hilary and husband Matthew Koma have welcomed their second child together, daughter Mae James. She joins siblings Banks (2) and Luca (9), and was born on March 24th.
Congratulations to them. Mae is a cute name, it reminds me of a little old lady.
Seeing this has made me realize that I'm still jealous of women who have successful, peaceful water births. I really am happy for them but it's been nearly two years and I guess I'm not fully over my daughter's birth. I laboured for 90 hours, which I didn't even think was possible, and ended up with a brutal assisted delivery that left really bad, lasting damage that affects my life (btw, most assisted deliveries are NOT like this, I'm not trying to worry anyone)
I did labour for a day in the water but I just wasn't professing :/
i can definitely relate to being jealous of women who have successful natural births. i labored for 53 hours (you are an absolute rock star i cannot even imagine!) and in the end i had a c section because it was extremely clear that even though i had progressed well, after two hours of pushing, my son was just not going to fit through. his head circumference was and still is in the 99th percentile. thankfully he was never in any distress. i am scheduled for my second c section at the end of may and still feel pangs of regret that i can't give birth naturally.
Thank you, 53 hours is definitely not a walk in the park either! You did an amazing job and should be proud. I feel kind of guilty for feeling bad about it still because obviously these things can and do end up a lot worse sometimes, but it was definitely an ordeal. My contractions would keep getting to a couple of minutes apart and then just go back to being 15 minutes apart for no reason but I couldn't sleep because they'd wake me up and then I'd be scared anticipating the pain of the next one
