This is shady if the original goal was only $10k.

Ugh so people can increase it after the initial goal? Maybe i'm too much of a skeptic but honestly people take advantage of strangers and friends' generosity and kindness online.

...or people are surprised by the response they get and are encouraged to raise what they are asking for from the bare minimum to a more helpful amount? I really hate the poor people are inherently greedy scammers narrative when they are literally begging for charity. If you are in a position to donate, it is on you to do your own due diligence to make sure your money is going to something or someone you actually support.

I know, I know, the rich stay rich by being cheap but if I had her net worth, I'd be paying off everyone's gofundme.

60k for a billionaire is the same as $3 for someone that makes $50k/year.

I imagine as a make up artist he doesn't have insurance and the costs will only keep mounting. Pretty much anything that needs major surgery needs physiotherapy afterwards and this is a traumatic brain injury that required emergency brain surgery so who knows what his needs will be afterwards. 60k in the United States seems like the most hopeful of hopeful cost scenarios where this could very quickly add up to the millions.

Agree. My same day heart procedure that took 8 hours (including prep & recovery time) was ~$95,000. I can see this individual's bill being way higher than that.
